I’ve always said that there is a special place in hell for
those that harm children. During a
13-month period, from 1976 and 1977 residents of Oakland County Michigan were
gripped with fear. Children were
disappearing and no one knew who was next. Soon bodies of the missing children
were being found and it became evident that a child murderer was operating in
After informing his mother that he was going home to watch
television, 12 year old Mark Stebbins was seen leaving an American Legion hall
on February 15 1976. His body was found on February 19, neatly laid out in a
snowbank in the parking lot of an office building at Ten Mile Road and
Greenfield in Southfield, Michigan. Though he was fully clothed in the outfit
he was wearing when he was last seen, alive authorities concluded that he had
been sexually assaulted with an object, and had suffered two lacerations to the
left rear of his head. Rope marks were evident upon both his wrists and ankles,
indicating he had been bound throughout his period of captivity.
Ten months later, Jill Robinson, of Royal Oak, Michigan; would have an argument with her mother. On Wednesday, December 22, 1976, the twelve-year-old packed a backpack, grabbed her bicycle and ran away from home. The following day her bicycle was found behind a hobby store on Main Street in Royal Oak. Unfortunately, her remains were found on December 26th along the side of Interstate 75 near Big Beaver Road in Troy, Michigan. Young Ms. Robinson’s death had been caused by a single 12-gauge shotgun blast to the face. Her body was found fully clothed, lying face-up and laid out neatly in the snow; a stone’s throw from the Troy police station. There was no evidence of any sexual assault.
It was Sunday, January 2, 1977, at approximately 3:00 pm, Kristine Mihelich was seen at a 7-Eleven store in Berkley, Michigan. Three hours later her mother reported the 10-year-old missing. Nineteen days later, a mail carrier spotted her body laid in the snow. The young lady had been smothered and her body placed in full view of nearby residents.
On Wednesday, March 16, 1977, eleven-year-old Timothy King borrowed 30 cents from his older sister and left his Birmingham, MI home about 8:30 pm to buy candy at a nearby drugstore. A witness spotted him leaving the store and reported that he seemed to simply have vanished. Already swamped with media coverage and public pressure from the previous three slayings, authorities executed an intensive search that covered the entire Detroit metropolitan area. Timothy’s father, Barry King broadcasted an emotional television appeal. Mt. King begged the abductor to release his son unharmed. In a letter printed in the Detroit News, Timothy’s mother, Marion King, wrote that she hoped Timothy could come home soon so she could serve him his favorite meal, Kentucky Fried Chicken; however, that meal would never be served. On the evening of March 22, 1977, two teenagers in a car spotted Timothy’s body in a shallow ditch alongside Gill Road, in Livonia, Michigan. He had been suffocated and sexually assaulted with an object. Ironically, the postmortem showed that Timothy had eaten fried chicken before he was slain. Findings also showed that he had been suffocated approximately six hours before his body was found.
Several other murders of children occurred following these
four murders; however, they lacked the= components that tied the four together.
Reports of a serial killer operating in the Oakland County area sent Oakland
and Wayne county residents into an uproar. The Michigan State Police formed a
task force of law-enforcement officials from 13 communities that devoted their
time and efforts solely to the investigation.
A woman claimed she had seen Timothy King with a skateboard talking to a man in a parking lot of the drugstore he had visited. The woman gave a description of the man and the vehicle that he drove. Other witnesses came forth and corroborated the testimony of the woman. The man was described as a 25 to 35-year-old white male with a dark complexion, sporting shaggy hair, and sideburns. The vehicle he drove was reportedly a blue AMC Gremlin with a white side stripe. Authorities would eventually question every Gremlin owner in Oakland County.
Investigators put together a profile of the killer based on
witnesses’ descriptions of the man seen talking to Timothy King the night he
disappeared. Authorities believed that the killer had a job that gave him
freedom of movement and may have appeared to be someone that a child might
trust, such as a police officer, clergyman or a doctor. He was also believed to
be familiar with the area and had the ability to keep children for long periods
of time without rousing neighbors’ suspicions.
The task force headed by Michigan State Police would check
out more than 18,000 tips, resulting in over twenty arrests and the busting of
a multi-state child pornography ring. However, task force members were never
able to charge a suspect in the investigation. In December 1978 the task force
disbanded and the investigation was turned over to the State Police. As quickly
as the kidnappings and murders began, they seemed to end and the Oakland County
child killer never struck again.
In our communities, we tend to look at police officers as our sole source of protection. If this true, we, unfortunately, will be faced with tragedies like this time and time again. It is our responsibility to look out for each other. Neighbors and friends, be conscious of each other and pay attention when a strange presence appears in your area. The only way to truly maintain the sanctity and peace in our living area is to have an established presence in our communities. Serial murder, kidnapping, sexual assault, etc. are all crimes of opportunity. Community unification removes a great deal of the opportunity and thereby lessens the chances for this situation and situations like this to occur.
Earlier this week I was watching YouTube videos instead of working as I’m sure many, if not most of us do from time to time. I came across a name; Michael Madison. According to the video I was watching, Madison is a serial killer from Cleveland that had recently been sentenced to death. As a true crime writer, this piqued my interest. As I read about Mr. Madison, I found that his death sentence came as a result of a conviction of murdering 18-year-old Shirrellda Terry, 28-year-old Shetisha Sheeley and 38-year-old Angela Deskins in a series of strangulations that occurred between October 2012 and July 2013.
Responding to reports of a foul odor, authorities investigated a garage leased by Madison. From the findings of the investigation, Madison was arrested on July 19, 2013. The body of Shirrellda Terry was found in the garage behind his apartment building on the corner of Hayden and Shaw avenues in East Cleveland. Authorities believe that 18-year-old Shirrellda Terry was his first victim. Madison originally lived with the corpse of Ms. Terry in the apartment with him until the smell overpowered him. At that point, Madison moved the body from the hall closet in his apartment to the garage. The bodies of Shetisha Sheeley and Angela Deskins. were also kept close to him. One corpse was kept in bushes outside and a third in the basement of a nearby vacant home. Wrapped in duct tape and garbage bags, all three bodies were visible from the second-floor balcony of his apartment.
I read on, taking in more and more information regarding this case and thought to myself, “serial killer in Cleveland, why does that seem familiar?” In amazement, (not like utter amazement, just a bit surprised) I realized that this was the second known serial killer in Cleveland in a matter of fewer than five years. I’d suddenly remembered Anthony Sowell.
Anthony Sowell, the Cleveland Strangler was arrested in October 2009 after the bodies of eleven women were discovered by police. Sowell was raised in East Cleveland. After a seven-year stint in the Marines, Sowell was convicted for kidnapping and rape in 1989. On September 22, 2009, Latundra Billups reported to police that after a few drinks Sowell became angry, hit, choked and raped her. On October 29, police arrived at his home with a warrant for Sowell’s arrest. Authorities did not find Sowell at home; however, what they did find shocked Cleveland to its core.
Police found the bodies of two women buried in a shallow grave in the basement. The remains of four other women were found on the 3rd floor of the home, in crawl spaces in the house. After more digging in the backyard, the corpses of three women were found as well as the partial remains of a fourth. A bucket inside the house containing a skull brought the body count to eleven victims. Sowell, arrested two days later; was charged with eleven counts of aggravated murder and 74 counts of rape, kidnapping, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse. On July 22, 2011, Sowell was convicted on all but two counts against him, including the murders of the eleven women whose bodies were found in his house. On August 12th Anthony Sowell was sentenced to death.
Initially amazed to find that the city of Cleveland had been faced with back to back serial killers; further research brought me to the conclusion that serial murder was nothing new to Cleveland, Ohio. By my count, Cleveland had at least 10 serial killers who either got their start or finish there. The first known instance of serial murder in Cleveland started back in the 1930s. The suspect was known to have killed at least 12 victims with some accounts believing the number may be closer to 40 victims during his run. During his reign of terror, he was known to gruesomely decapitate his victims with his bare hands. Many times he would do so while the victim was still alive. Newspapers dubbed this individual the Cleveland Torso Murderer.
From 1935-1938, the Cleveland Torso Murderer also known as the Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run; dismembered at least 12 victims and dumped the remains in the area of Kingsbury Run, an area on the southeast side of Cleveland, Ohio. Despite being pursued by Cleveland’s Public Safety Director, famous lawman, Eliot Ness, as well as lead detective Peter Merylo, he was never apprehended.
The victims of the Torso Murderer were normally drifters,
runaways and prostitutes. Of the 12 known victims, only 3 were identified; Edward
Andrassy, Florence Polillo, and Rose Wallace. The sinister acts of depravity
that earned the killer his title were the beheading and dismembering of his
victims. At times he would cut the victim’s torso in half or remove their
appendages. As stated earlier, many times the victim was still alive during
mutilation making the decapitation or dismemberment the excruciatingly painful
cause of death. Most of the victims’ remains were found long after they had
been murdered, this contributed greatly to the inability to identify them.
Especially since the heads were often missing.
The official body count of the Torso Murderer was 12, however area murders that fit the profile of other victims go as far back as 1921 when dismembered bodies were found in swamps and boxcars near New Castle, Pennsylvania. On July 22, 1950, the decapitated body of 41-year-old Robert Robertson was found in Cleveland. This means that crimes fitting the same modus operandi as those of the Torso Murderer were occurring years after they were thought to have ended.
I was totally taken back by the sheer number of serial killers that have called Cleveland Ohio home at some point. Most of society remember being sickened by the despicable exploits of Ariel Castro, however many are unaware that Cleveland has ties to the Milwaukee cannibal Jeffery Dahmer. As I concluded my studies of this otherwise booming metropolis I came to the conclusion that the Rock and Roll Capital of the World may also be the Serial Killer Capital of America.
In the late 80’s the Frankford area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was plagued with a rash of murders. In total; nine murders were said to be committed by this individual. From August of 1985 through September of 1990 the bodies of nine women were found. All of the victims were said to have been stabbed, sexually assaulted with many left in sexually provocative positions. The victims were known to frequent popular Frankford area bars. One such bar was “Goldie’s,” the nickname for the Golden Bar situated at the 5200 block on Frankford Avenue.
On April 29, 1990, the body of 46-year-old, Carol Dowd was found behind Newman’s Seafood on Frankford Avenue. Similar to the seven victims found before her, Dowd had been stabbed and sexually assaulted. However, unlike the other deaths, Dowd’s murder brought forth a suspect; Leonard Christopher. Witnesses; two prostitutes told investigators that Christopher, an employee at Newman’s Seafood was seen with the victim near what would become the scene of the crime; the alley behind Newman’s. The two witnesses also told authorities that Christopher was seen with a large utility knife tucked in his belt.
As they’d done following each murder, Philadelphia police interviewed person’s of interest in the days following Carol’s death. Most of those questioned were patrons of the Golden Bar as well as other Frankford Avenue bars where many of the victims, as well as Christopher, frequented. On May 4th, Christopher was questioned about Carol Dowd’s murder. During questioning, he admitted to knowing Margaret Vaughan, another of the Frankford Slasher’s victims. Christopher informed investigators that he had indeed spoken with Carol Dowd before her death as well as acknowledging that, as a part of his job, he would routinely carry a knife to clean and prepare fish. Also within the guidelines of performing his duties at work, his boss, Jaesa Phang, told him to clean the blood in the alley, attributing to witness testimony that he had been seen near the crime scene.
Pressured by the public to solve the murders and based on the testimony of the two prostitutes; Leonard Christopher was arrested and charged with the murder of Carol Dowd. By arresting Christopher Philadelphia police hoped to send a message to the city that the Franklin slasher had been apprehended. Unfortunately, Philly would soon learn that nothing could be further from the truth.
The state of Pennsylvania, positive that they had solved the Frankford slasher murders gathered their sketchy persecution of Leonard Christopher. Until on September 6th, 1990 Michelle Dehner also known as Michelle Martin, was found murdered in her Arrott Street apartment. Like the other victims, Dehner was found to have been sexually assaulted and stabbed to death. At that time, Leonard Christopher had long since been in police custody. The false sense of security that the Philadelphia police attempted to give to the residents of the Frankford area had now crumbled and a new question arose; “have we arrested an innocent man?”
The prosecution conveniently overlooked statements made by nearly every witness interviewed. In most, if not all of the other Frankford murder cases, eyewitnesses described a middle-aged white man being in the company of the victims immediately before their deaths. Even Dowd was seen with an individual matching that description
shortly before her murder. However, Leonard Christopher didn’t fit that description. Christopher was a 38-year-old black man.
Knowing full well that they could not convict Christopher for the first seven murders, the state proceeded to prosecute Leonard Christopher for the murder of Carol Dowd. On December 12th of 1990, utilizing questionable eyewitness testimony of the two prostitutes and despite the lack of physical evidence and the fact that no witness testified seeing Christopher with any bloodstained clothing; they were able to secure a conviction against Mr. Christopher. The proverbial nail in the flimsily made coffin that became Christopher’s conviction came when Jaesa Phang told police that Christopher, for no reason at all, looked at her and said, “Maybe I killed her.”
To refer to this case as a miscarriage of justice is an understatement and does it a grave disservice. It is a travesty dare I say a tragedy. To this day the Frankford Slasher murders remain unsolved, leaving justice unserved for the victims and questions unanswered from their families. A broken justice system, as well as the slasher himself, destroyed the lives of ten people as well as the lives of the people that love them. This case is a prime example of a deeply flawed criminal justice system; a system designed to protect us but time after time is pressured by the media to provide answers and thereby forcing authorities to “create” a perpetrator. Without implementing proper investigation techniques or utilizing the appropriate measures for solving such heinous crimes, Leonard Christopher became the sacrificial offering to this system as well as the tenth victim in this case. Leonard Christopher was sentenced to life but died from cancer three years ago.
There are murders that go unsolved. Creepy crime scenes and sketchy evidence make these cases a nightmare for the detective assigned. The fact of the matter is that some cases of murder; despite the confidence of the investigating authority are, for the lack of a better term; unsolvable. Why you ask? The fact of the matter is that these murders contain evidence that point directly to situations that no officer of the law is trained to investigate, and most refuse to admit that they believe in. These are elements in the paranormal and the supernatural.
The technological advances we, as a society, have made within the last century enable us with the ability to speak with someone on the other side of the world face to face. However, we still can’t find out who committed the Black Dalia murder. The reason for this is simple. Some things are not made to be solved by normal or natural means. The next 5 cases are unsolved and linked to circumstances beyond our understanding.
The Jamison Family
On October 8, 2009, the Jamison family of Eufaula, Oklahoma mysteriously disappeared. Bobby Jamison, his wife Sherilynn, and daughter Madyson are shown on CCTV packing their automobile in a trans like state.
A few days later the Jamison’s vehicle was located. The family was not found, however, what was found was the Jamisons’ IDs, wallets, mobile phones, a GPS system, and about $32,000 in cash as well as their dog which was malnourished but still alive, all within in their truck. The Jamison’s had driven to the area to see 40 acres of property on which they were considering moving to.
On November 16, 2013; less than three miles away from where the Jamison’s truck was found, two hunters discovered the skeletal remains of two adults and one child. On July 3, 2014,
anthropological and forensic pathological testing identified the remains as the missing Jamison family.
Rumors ranging from group suicide to the Jamison’s involvement in drugs or witchcraft were given by those that knew the family. Sherilynn’s mother, Connie Kokotan, believes that the family was killed by members of a violent cult. Their pastor told authorities that on separate occasions that Sherilynn confided in him that she had seen spirits inside their home. Due to the decomposed state of the bodies when they were found a cause of death was not determined. Up to the publication of this post neither a suspect nor person of interest has ever been named.
Christopher Case was a music executive from Richmond, VA and living in Seattle. In April of 1991, a friend, concerned for his safety contacted local authorities to do a wellness check on Christopher’s home. Responding officers burst into Case’s apartment and found him fully clothed, in a kneeling position, dead in an empty bathtub. There were no signs of foul play or a break-in. The coroner determined it was likely caused by acute myocarditis meaning that his heart just randomly stopped.
On or about April, 11th, Case traveled to San Francisco on business. During this time he met a woman that shared an interest in a particular type of music. The two met for dinner and had a lovely time. The unnamed woman, 20 years his senior, wanted their relationship to go further than being mere friends, however, Christopher had no interest in pursuing a romantic relationship with the woman and expressed his feelings to her in no uncertain terms.
The woman, embarrassed by the rejection, informed Case that she was a witch and had placed a curse upon him. She went on to say that he would be sorry and most likely be dead within a week. Undaunted by the babblings of the woman, Case headed back to Seattle. Initially, Case went about his day to day life. It was April, 14th when paranoia seemed to set in. He told friends about the witch he’d met in San Francisco had been attacking him all night and cutting him. He said he’d woke up with little cuts on the ends of his fingers. Case confided in friends that he heard voices and saw shadows moving out of the corners of his eyes. The level of sincerity he displayed when speaking to friends indicated to them that he truly believed he would be dead by the end of the week.
On April 14, Case visited Evangelical Inc. There he inquired about ways to remove a curse and combat the paranormal. The store owner obliged Case and assisted him to the best of his ability. On the 16th Christopher returned to the store. He told the owner that he was afraid and that the witch had been attacking him all night and cutting him. He said he’d woke up with little cuts on the ends of his fingers and streaks of blood in his bed sheets.
On April 17th, Case left messages on the answering machines of friends. No longer rattled or spooked, Case now spoke like a man that had accepted his fate. He sounded calm and somber as he all but said goodbye to friends and acquaintances. On April 18th, 1991 Christopher Case was dead. The coroner cited Myocarditis as the reason for his death.
The Curse of Carl Pruitt’s Grave
Okay, Carl Pruitt’s death has nothing to do with the paranormal or supernatural. Actually, men and women have died this way since the beginning of time. It is what happens afterward that is where the paranormal kicks in.
In 1938, Carl Pruitt of Pulaski County, KY, came home from work to find his wife in bed with another man. The enraged Pruitt grabbed his wife as the man made his escape from the home. In his raged Pruitt strangled his wife with a nearby chain. The grieving Pruitt then grabbed his revolver, placed it into his mouth and cocked it, then pulled the trigger. Filled with grief and hatred, the family of the wife demanded that Carl’s grave be placed elsewhere from that of his wife. As they wished, the grave of Carl Pruitt was placed into a different cemetery. This is where shit got weird.
Weeks after the funeral a child by the name of James Collins rode his bicycle past the gravestone of Pruitt. Having heard the disgust in which his parents referenced when speaking of Pruitt, he hurled a baseball sized stone at Pruitt’s gravestone, chipping it. He then lost control of the bike. Somehow the chain came loose and wrapped around the child’s neck and killing him. When investigated; the gravestone was intact as if it never happened.
Roughly a week and a half later, James’ mother, still distraught about the loss of her child; took a sledgehammer to the gravestone, smashing it into pieces. Later that day, while doing laundry, she was found strangled to death with a laundry line. Again, Pruitt’s gravestone was intact.
A farmer passing the cemetery on his horse and buggy sees Pruitt’s gravestone. Wanting to test his aim as well as the validity of the alleged curse, fired his pistol at the Gravestone; taking the top portion clean off. Unfortunately, the shot startles the horses. As they raise up, the chain holding them together comes aloose, wrapping around the farmer’s neck; breaking it quickly. Again when the headstone is next seen; it is intact as if nothing had ever happened.
A pair of cops, assigned to investigate the deaths and alleged curse of Pruit’s headstone. Angered by the assinine assignment; these cops photograph, defile and attempt to destroy the headstone, breaking it into several pieces. After receiving an urgent call they leave but are soon followed by a large ball of light seemingly emanating from Pruitt’s grave. The light causes the officers to lose control of their car. One officer is ejected from the police car resulting in minor injuries. The other officer is not so lucky, however. The chain around the boundaries of the cemetery nearly decapitates the other officer. When other officers arrive at the scene the gravestone is there undamaged.
Finally, Arthur Lewis sets out to prove that there is no curse. Cheered on by his wife and other townspeople, Lewis takes a sledgehammer and crushes the gravestone. Soon the cheers turned into cries of agony as the chain surrounding the cemetery whips around the neck of Lewis and strangle him to death. In the morning the headstone stood undamaged.
Did Carl Pruitt’s reach from beyond the grave to punish naysayers? No one knows for sure, but in 1958 changes came to the town and cemetery. All graves, including that of Carl Pruitt, were moved to undisclosed sites.
The Incident at Dyatlov Pass
The Dyatlov Pass Incident has gone unsolved for almost 60 years. In February of 1959, 9 experienced climbers, students from the Ural Polytechnical Institute, led by Igor Alekseyevich Dyatlov were found dead. All of those found were experienced Grade II-hikers with ski tour experience, and would be receiving Grade III certification; the highest certification available in the Soviet Union upon their return. The purpose of the expedition was to reach Otorten, a mountain 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) north of the site of where their bodies were found.
The crew of 10 set out on or about January 23rd of 1959. Utilizing various modes of transportation over a period of approximately a week the team arrives at their starting point at the northern Ural Mountains. Yuri Yefimovich Yudin was forced to turn back due to illness.
On February 26th of 1959, the explorers camp was found. The tent had been cut open from inside. Several sets of footprints had been found in the snow. Oddly, the footprints were of people who were wearing only socks, a single shoe or were even barefoot. The bodies of Yuri Alexeyevich Krivonischenko and Yuri Nikolayevich Doroshenko were found at that time. Despite the frigid temperature they were shoeless and dressed only in their underwear. Searchers soon found the corpses of Igor Alekseyevich Dyatlov, Zinaida Alekseevna Kolmogorova, and Rustem Vladimirovich Slobodin. The other four explorers would not be found for another two months.
On May 4, under four meters of snow, the last four explorers were found. A medical examination of the first four bodies determined that hadn’t received any injuries which might have led to their deaths. Investigators eventually concluded that they had all died of hypothermia. However, three of the four ski hikers that were found in May, had fatal injuries. Nikolai Vladimirovich Thibeaux-Brignolles had major skull damage, and both Lyudmila Alexandrovna Dubinina and Semyon Alekseevich Zolotaryov had major chest fractures as well as missing eyes and eyelids. Extensive external injuries were found on Dubinina, who was missing her tongue which was said to have been ripped out from the base, part of the lips, as well as facial tissue and a fragment of skull bone.
Several theories surround this case, too many to be mentioned in this post. Doctors at that time said that the force required to cause such damage would have been extremely high, comparing it to the force of a car crash. Notably, the bodies had no external wounds related to the bone fractures, as if they had been subjected to a high level of pressure. Several theories have arisen concerning the incident, too many to list here, however,
I have included the facts surrounding the deaths of these hikers:
Six of the group members died of hypothermia and three of fatal injuries.
There were no indications of other people nearby on Kholat Syakhl apart from the nine travelers.
The tent had been ripped open from within.
The victims had died 6 to 8 hours after their last meal.
Traces from the camp showed that all group members left the campsite of their own accord, on foot.
To dispel the theory of an attack by the indigenous Mansi people, Dr. Boris Vozrozhdenny stated that the fatal injuries of the three bodies could not have been caused by another human being, “because the force of the blows had been too strong and no soft tissue had been damaged”
Released documents contained no information about the condition of the skiers’ internal organs.
There were no survivors of the incident.
The Mutilated Man of Sao Paolo (Warning Graphic Photos)
On September 29, 1988. a body was found in the Guarapiranga reservoir, located in Brazil. That in itself is not a shocking find as São Paulo is known as the kidnapping capital of Brazil. Even the initial police report was not extraordinary in nature. The part that is mysterious and shocking is the condition of the body when it was found. The body, found by two boys was severely mutilated; actually, severely mutilated does not accurately describe the condition of the corpse. To date, this murder and the condition of the remains is known as one of the most disturbing deaths of a human being in recorded history.
Doctors at that time were flabbergasted by the condition of the corpse. The autopsy gave an in-depth description of the atrocities that had befallen the victim. The flesh and lips have been excised around the mandibles, the left eye and ears were also removed and the mouth cavity was emptied, including the tongue. There had been a removal of extensive tissue along many parts of the face, head, and neck of the victim. There has also been extraction of ocular tissue, eyes, auditive internal and external organs (ears) and entire parts of the head. Similar to the tongue, several other muscles had also been extracted.the removal of the belly button left a hole in the abdomen and a depressed abdominal cavity indicated the removal of the intestines.
Surgical cuts were precise and had been done with agility and care. The lack of bleeding suggests the use of a laser-like instrument producing acute heat, thus cauterizing almost immediately the edge of the wounds. Internal organs were removed or sucked somehow through two small “cookie cutter” like circular incisions on the chest. The penis was stretched and had no signs of being cut. The testicles were extracted with a precision cut. The anal orifice of the victim was extracted as well as the rectum and other internal parts of the human discharge system also removed. It is probable that the internal organs of the man could have been removed through this incision. The lack of blood leads doctors to believe that the man was alive during this whole ordeal.
Initially, the man’s identity was withheld, we now however know that his name was Joaquim Sebastião Gonçalves. Gonçalves suffered from Chagas disease and epilepsy and as a result he used to take Gardenal, a strong sedative. The 53-year-old Gonçalves was known to be a heavy drinker and had been missing for three days when he was found. It is said that he went to Jardim Recanto do Sol, São Paulo, to fish. He took his clothes off, staying only in his shorts, and put his clothes in a bag that he hid amid the bushes. It is said that he passed out from the combination of drugs and alcohol then eaten alive by wild animals.
His death and condition of his body have been the subject of debate for 30 years. Ufologists testify that the condition of this corpse is a carbon copy of the surgery they have seen in so many UFO-related animal mutilation cases. Other theories blame everything from crazed cults to wild animals in an effort to explain the condition of the corpse. Those that have viewed the corpse first hand are astonished at the skill and precision that each wound illustrates.
There you have 5 cases of murder with supernatural or paranormal implications. On the streets, we have a saying, ” believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.” Always take what you read on the internet with a grain of salt and always lean on your own common sense. Based on a True Story,’ or “Inspired by Actual Events”; are just two phrases that, when added to a cinematic production are guaranteed to raise eyebrows as well as ticket sales. Why; well it seems that when we see phrases such as these, our proverbial antennas rise and immediately we won’t know about the horrible tale that happened to somebody just like ourselves. Already attracted to the film by either enjoying a previously written novel about the movie’s subject matter or as a result of the film’s top-notched marketing team creating a movie trailer so alluring it becomes a “must see” production in your weekend’s “to do” list. We rush to the theater, but no longer are we simply going to the movies; because of the simple phrase, we are now preparing to see a cautionary tale. In other words, a 90-minute public service announcement letting us know that if you find ourselves in similar situations, and if you aren’t careful; the events that occur in this motion picture could happen to you, enjoy your movie.
1) BORDERLAND is a 2007 horror film based on the life of Adolfo de Jesús Constanzo. A major player in the drug trade of the 80’s, Nicknamed, “El Padrino de Matamoros”, (The Godfather of Matamoros ) Constanzo believed that his spells, potions, and beliefs kept he and his cartel free from police intervention and allowed them to operate in complete anonymity. After rumors of him being the leader of a religious cult that practiced human sacrifice, the media dubbed Constanzo and his followers, “Narco-Satanists.” It would be the kidnapping and murder of University of Texas junior, Mark J. Kilroy, in the spring of 1989 that would lead to the cult’s exposure and downfall.
2) THE ENTITYis a 1982 horror film starring Barbara Hershey as a woman who is raped and tormented by an invisible assailant. Originally a novel, the film is based on the alleged poltergeist assault on Doris Bither. In 1974, Doris Bither, a single mother of four, alleged that the ghosts of three Asian men were raping her. She claimed two would hold her down while the third raped her. During the investigation into her claim, supernatural professionals were contacted as well as mental health experts. During the investigation, it was uncovered that Bither had a history of physical and substance abuse. Throughout her life, she had been in multiple abusive relationships and had a traumatic childhood.
3) THE HILLS HAVE EYESis a horror film from Wes Craven. The film is centered around a family of severely deformed inbred, mutant, cannibals as they trap, attack and kill unsuspecting travelers. The movie is based on the life of Sawney Bean and his clan. Sawney Bean was said to be the head of a 48-member clan in Scotland somewhere between the 13th and 16th centuries. The clan was reported to blame for the robbery, murder, and cannibalization of over 1,000 people. King James VI of Scotland (later James I of England) was made aware of the clan and their crimes and lead a manhunt of 400 men and several bloodhounds. The Beans were found in a cave in Bennane Head. The cave was scattered with human remains and was the crime scene for countless murders and cannibalistic acts. The clan was executed without trial; the men had their genitalia cut off, and were hanged, drawn and quartered and soon bled to death. After watching the men die the women and children, were burned alive.
4) CHILD’S PLAY is a 1988 horror movie about a widowed mother who gives her son a doll for his birthday. Unbeknownst to all, the doll is possessed by the soul of an infamous serial killer portrayed by Academy Award nominee and one of my favorite actors, Brad Douriff. The movie is inspired by the story of Robert Gene Otto and his doll, Robert.
According to the story, Robert Gene Otto was given the doll by his grandfather as a birthday gift in 1904. Otto named the doll Robert, “family and friends referred to Otto as Gene”, and soon became Gene’s, “best friend.” As the legend goes, Otto and Robert were inseparable. Various mishaps would happen around the Otto home and young Gene would adamantly blame the doll, Robert. It was said that on occasions Gene could be heard in his room, sitting in his room with the door closed; speaking to someone that answered back in a totally different voice. While at school, Gene would sit Robert in a chair facing the window. Neighbors swore that they would see the doll moving from room to room as well as wave from the window.
Robert Gene Otto married, raised his family and died in 1974 all with Robert the doll at his side. After his death, his home, as well as the doll within, was sold to Myrtle Reuter who owned them for an additional 20 years. During that time the mysteries and mystique surrounding the doll continued. In 1994 the doll was donated to the East Martello Museum and became a popular tourist attraction.
5) THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN is a slasher/horror movie based on the actual crimes that were known as the Texarkana Moonlight Murders. The unsolved attacks were attributed to an unidentified serial killer known as the Phantom Killer. The Phantom attacked eight people between February 22 and May 3, 1946, in or near the town of Texarkana, Texas. Five of those attacked were killed hence the name Texarkana Moonlight Murders.
Most of the murders occurred in rural areas just outside Texarkana, in Bowie County, Texas. The residents of the area went into a state of panic throughout the summer of 1946. From sundown each evening the inhabitants heavily armed themselves and locked themselves indoors while police patrolled streets and neighborhoods. Despite various theories and opinions from crime experts, the murders are still unsolved.
6) HENRY; PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER is a 1986 horror/thriller starring Michael Rooker depicting the real-life exploits of serial killer Henry Lee Lucas. The movie covers the life and crimes of Lucas before and after his team up with fellow serial murderer Ottis Toole. The movie depicts Lucas and Toole as some sort of depraved buddy flick, however, does illustrate the gruesome heinousness of both of these killers. Already considered controversial by critics the movie was initially rated X by the MPAA due to the sheer brutality. Eventually editted to an unrated version the film was shot on 16mm in less than a month with a budget of $110,000 but brought in approximately 1,000,000 worldwide, despite being banned in many areas.
Arrested in 1983, Henry Lee Lucas confessed to over 1000 murders. Investigators had the task of deciphering the true confessions to those that were fictitious. When he started confessing to numerous unsolved cases, he was initially considered credible. Based on evidence collected police knew that he had truthfully admitted committing two killings. However, after further information was acquired in many cases, investigators found that many of Lucas’s confessions were made up to get out of his cell and improve his living conditions. Authorities did, however, treat several confessions as potentially genuine.
Henry Lee Lucas was convicted of 11 murders and sentenced to death. The sentence was commuted to life in prison in 1998 by Governor George W. Bush. On March 12, 2001, at 11pm Lucas was found dead in prison from heart failure at age 64.
7) THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUTis a 2009 psychological horror film based on Carmen Snedeker and her family. In the film, we are also introduced to Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Warrens were American paranormal investigators and authors associated with prominent cases of hauntings. The movie is based on an actual entry in their case files.
Sara Campbell, (portrayed by Virginia Madsen), her husband Peter and her cancer-riddled son Matthew are looking for a rental home near the hospital providing Matt’s cancer treatment. The couple finds the perfect house and moves in. Initially, all seems well until Matthew begins to see hallucinations and experience night terrors. The bottom line is that the home was formerly a funeral home where the owner practiced necromancy as well as necrophilia. This was true in the movie as well as in real life,
The actual validity of the based on true events tag has recently come under fire but since I’ve got it in here already and don’t feel like replacing it with another movie we will consider it real events.
8) JACK KETCHUM’S, THE GIRL NEXT DOOR is a 2007 horror film adaptation of Jack Ketchum’s 1989 novel of the same name. The title is written in such a way so not to be confused with the comedy movie of the same name. The film is based on true events surrounding the torture and murder of Sylvia Likens by Gertrude Baniszewski during the summer of 1965.
The film is told from the point of view of David Moran, a child that grew up with the film’s main character and actually had a crush on her. The film opens in the current day, after attempting to assist a tragic car accident victim earlier that day David sits home alone later that evening and thinks back to the summer of 1958. His first teenage crush came that year in the form of Meg Loughlin. Meg and her sister Susan had come to stay with his next-door neighbor; their aunt, Ruth Chandler. Meg and Susan’s parents had been killed in a tragic auto accident.
Upon their arrival, Ruth immediately alienates her nieces. She starves Meg, accusing her of being a whore. The abuse dealt to the two girls by their aunt and her sons are sickening; especially to Meg. Ruth chains Meg in the basement while continuing to starve the girl; Ruth’s sons, her cousins are allowed to violate Meg in any way imaginable. The deplorable treatment illustrated in the movie depicts the real-life abuse that Sylvia Likens went through at the hands of Gertrude Baniszewski during the summer of 1965.
The Likens’ parents, were carnival workers. Initially, they left Sylvia and her sister, Jenny, in the care of the Baniszewski family, paying Gertrude $20 a week to care for the sisters. When his payment arrived late one week, Baniszewski beat the Likens girls on their bare buttocks with paddles. That was the beginning of the abuse that would not see an end until the death of young Sylvia Likens on October 26, 1965. Sylvia was only 16 years old.
9) THE STRANGERS is a 2008 horror film starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman. Kristen and James have come to the family vacation home for a relaxing retreat. There is a noticeable tension between the couple and we soon find out that James actually proposed to Kristen earlier; she refused. As they make themselves comfortable there is a loud knock at the door. James answers and a mysterious woman asks for Tamara. He informs the lady that she is mistaken and she casually says see you later as she walks away.
Due to the tension, James takes a drive to the nearby convenience store. While he is gone Tamara receives another knock at the door however when she answers no one is there. James returns and from that point, they are engaged in a fight for their lives from three assailants that just happen to have picked their home to terrorize for no reason other than the fact that they were home.
The movie is based on The Keddie Cabin Murders. The Keddie cabin murders is an unsolved 1981 American quadruple homicide that occurred in Keddie, California. The murders took place in Cabin 28 of the Keddie Resort located in the small Sierra Nevada mountain communities of Keddie and Quincy in northern California late on the evening of April 11, 1981.
10) SAW is a 2004 horror film by James Wan and Leigh Whannell. The film never claims to be inspired by real events, I just thought the use of traps were ironic and eerily similar to those used by the man widely accredited as being the world’s first serial killer.
John Kramer, (portrayed brilliantly by Tobin Bell) is a man disappointed by what he feels mankind has become. Adding insult to injury Kramer finds out that he is dying from inoperable cancer. contemplates suicide as he drives down the highway. Deciding to go for it he drives through the guardrail and into a trail. Severely injured but alive John Kramer has an epiphany and a new lease on life. He pulls himself out of the accident debris, not only deciding to live but determined to help others see just how much a blessing life is. From this point forward and for the duration of 8 films, John Kramer puts individuals to the test. He, with the help of his handpicked assistants, develops traps for those that he feels do not value their lives. The traps, for the most part; are designed that if the individual truly wants to live they will satisfy the requirements of the game and make their way out of the trap; at any cost.
Dr. H.H. Holmes aka Herman Webster Mudgett is quite possibly America’s first documented serial killer. Holmes arrived in Chicago in August 1886 and set up shop at the southwest corner of 63rd Street and Wallace Avenue in the Englewood area of my great city. He worked for the Holton’s pharmacy there until he was able to purchase property directly across the street. During this [period many of Holmes’ acquaintances came up missing, suspiciously, however for relevance sake I want to concentrate emphasis on his murder hotel.
In 1893, Jackson Park; an area 3 miles east of Holmes’ property, became the site of the 1893 World’s Fair. Also known as the Columbian Exposition, the event attracted more than 27 million visitors to Chicago. During this time Holmes built the hotel that would become known as his “Murder Castle”; a labyrinthine structure with shops on the first floor and small apartments and hotel rooms on the floors above.
The structure he built consisted of stairways to nowhere, Doors that opened to brick walls. Holmes hired and fired various contractors during the castle’s construction, this insured that no one other than himself knew the full layout of the building. Holmes’ booby-trapped Murder Castle made use of various manners of traps and torture methods that guests would find themselves in. Some rooms were soundproofed so the cries of tortured victims could not be heard. Other rooms had been made airtight, he would pump toxic gas in through the vents. The hotel consisted secret passages and a disorienting maze of hallways and staircases. The rooms were also outfitted with trapdoors over chutes that dropped Holmes’ unsuspecting victims to the building’s basement. The basement consisted of acid vats, pits of quicklime (often used on decaying corpses) and a crematorium, which the killer used to turn his victims into ash.
Holmes lured many visitors to the Columbian Exposition to his sinister lair. It is said that Holmes’ over 200 victims fell prey to the traps of his “Murder Castle; though the exact number of his victims is still debated by historians. After family members of victims came forward concerning the whereabouts of their missing relatives Holmes fled Chicago. Holmes was apprehended in Boston in October 1893, following the conclusion of the World’s Fair. After a brief incarceration, Holmes was hanged for his crimes in Philadelphia in 1896. He is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Well, that’s it, 10 movies and the real-life acts of depravity that inspired them. Were there others that you were thinking about. If so let me know. Don’t forget to share, like and subscribe and until next time take care.
Warning Graphic Photos Included. Can a person just burst into flames? Spontaneous human combustion (SHC) is a term that classifies the phenomenon of the combustion of a living human body without an apparent external source of ignition. I remember hearing of SHC several years ago as it was a highly debated topic. I had always accepted that it was a proven condition that a very few many people were susceptible to. However, the topic of spontaneous human combustion is still debated. Some authorities believe that the SHC phenomenon is real; others seek to disprove that theory. Worldwide, there have been approximately 200 documented reports of (SHC) over the last 300 years. For this post I’ve researched and highlighted 6 cases of spontaneous human combustion; you be the judge.
Henry Thomas: In 1980, 73-year-old Henry Thomas, was found burned to death in his home in South Wales. His entire body was incinerated, leaving only his skull and a portion of each leg below the knee. His feet and legs were still clothed in socks and the bottom portion of his pants. Half of the chair in which he had been sitting was also destroyed. As investigators muddled through the possible crime scene, they noticed that his feet were completely unburned. They also took note that the area surrounding his body was practically untouched by the fire. According to the police officer who arrived on the scene first, there was a fine mist of human fat covering all the surfaces in the room, which had evaporated in the extreme heat of the fire. The front panel of the TV was melted as well, despite being at least 15 feet away from the body. The only other things that burned were objects which had been in direct contact with the body – half of a chair, which eventually tipped and dropped the body to the floor.
Forensic officers of the day concluded that Thomas’ death was due to the wick effect. The wick effect is the name given to the partial destruction of a human body by fire. It suggests that a small external flame source, such as a burning cigarette, chars the clothing of the victim at a location, splitting the skin and releasing subcutaneous fat. When the clothing of the victim soaks up melted human fat and acts like the wick of a candle. This explanation is often given to those that don’t subscribe to the SHC theory.
Mary Hardy Reeser “The Cinder Lady”: On July 2, 1951, at about 8 a.m., Mary Hardy Reeser’s landlady, Pansy Carpenter, knocked on Reeser’s door to deliver a telegram. Touching the door, she found the metal doorknob to be uncomfortably warm to the touch and called the police. Police and fire authorities carefully entered the apartment. Upon entering the home, they found Reeser’s remains completely burned into ash, along with the ashy remains of the chair on which she sat.
The only part of her left leg and foot (which was wearing a slipper) and her backbone remained, along with her skull. Plastic household objects at a distance from the seat of the fire were softened and had lost their shapes. Reeser’s skull had survived and was found among the ashes, but shrunken to the size of a teacup. The extent of this shrinkage was enough to be remarked on by official investigators and was not an illusion caused by the removal of all facial features (ears, nose, lips, etc.). The shrinking of the skull is not an exclusive feature of alleged cases of SHC, although the ‘shrunken skull’ claim has become a regular feature of other SHC cases.
On July 7, 1951, St. Petersburg police chief J.R. Reichert sent a box of evidence fro
m the scene to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. He included glass fragments found in the ashes, six “small objects thought to be teeth,” a section of the carpet, and the surviving shoe. Even though the body was almost totally cremated, requiring very high temperatures, the room in which it occurred showed little evidence of the fire.
Robert Francis Bailey: At 5:19am on September 13, 1967, emergency services were called when a concerned citizen, walking to work noticed a bright light coming from inside a seemingly abandoned home in Lambeth, South London. Arriving at approximately 5:24 am, the fire department discovered the burning body of Robert Francis Bailey, a local homeless alcoholic. One of the responding firefighters reported that, as they entered the building, Bailey was lying on the bottom of the stairs half-turned on his left side with his knees were drawn up into his stomach. Bailey had been conscious as he burned to death and evidence suggests that he had been convulsing in agony as the fire consumed him. First responders found that Bailey’s pain was so intense that he had bitten into the solid mahogany post on the stairs. His teeth were embedded so deeply into the wood that his mouth had to be pried open by the fire department to remove his body. A firefighter described Bailey’s (SHC) episode as a four-inch slit in his stomach with a blue flame that was emanating from the slit like a blow torch. The flame was actually coming from the body itself, literally burning from the inside out. To extinguish the flame completely the hose had to be placed within the slit in Bailey’s stomach.
Fire damage to the property itself was minimal. The only fire damage in the house was on the floor, directly below where the body had been burning. Aside from the abdomen area where the fire had originated, Robert Francis Bailey’s clothes were intact and unaffected by the fire. Believing Bailey may have been saved; the fire department put out the flames almost immediately, once they pinpointed the fire’s origin. Robert Francis Bailey’s original cause of death was determined to be “asphyxia due to inhalation of fire fumes” but after reviewing the case further his death was deemed to have been due to “unknown causes”. Unwilling to recognize spontaneous human combustion as a reason for his death; investigators cite that Bailey’s alcoholism as being the probable contributor to the fire.
John Irving Bentley: Bentley was last seen alive on the 4th of December in 1966. Friends visiting his home wished him goodnight as they left at about 9 p.m. The following morning, meter reader Don Gosnell let himself into Bentley’s house, as he had permission to do due to Bentley’s infirmity, and went to the basement to check the meter. While in the basement, Gosnell noticed a strange smell and a light blue smoke. He explained the smoke to be “somewhat sweet, like starting up a new oil-burning central heating system”. On the ground was a neat pile of ash, about 35 centimeters in height.
The floor underneath the ash was unmarked. Had he looked up, he would’ve seen a hole about a foot long square in the floorboards above. Intrigued, he went upstairs to investigate. The bedroom was smoky and in the bathroom, he found Bentley’s cremated remains. All that was left of the aged doctor was the lower half of his right leg with the slipper still on it. The rest of his body had been reduced to a pile of ashes in the basement below. His walker lay across the hole in the floor generated by the fire. The rubber tips on it were still intact and the nearby bathtub was barely scorched. Gosnell ran from the building to get help. He reached the gas company office screaming “Doctor Bentley’s burned up!” to his colleagues. Later on, his colleagues said: “he looked as white as a sheet”.
George Mott: Not much is known in the case of George Mott. What is known is that on the evening of March 26, 1986, the 58-year-old former firefighter apparently burst into flames and died. When he was found that night, what remained of him were mostly the ashes on the floor beneath his mattress, investigators would rule that the fire was caused by one of two things: a gas leak or “an electrical arc” that shot out from an outlet onto Mott and set him on fire. However, there wasn’t any evidence found to support either claim. To the professionals that investigated the case, Mott was a firefighter who burned to death in his own home. A victim of just an unfortunate, semi-poetic coincidence. Even firefighters have to die in one way or another.
Helen Conway: On November 6th, 1964, Helen Conway from Pennsylvania was babysitting her grandchildren. A neighbor that happened to be walking past her home spotted a huge flame through the window. Mrs. Conway’s granddaughter she raced back to her home with her to call emergency services. When the fire department arrived they were shocked to find half of her body incinerated but her lower legs, feet, and toes intact.
Neighbors told authorities that Mrs. Conway was a heavy smoker. Friends of the deceased woman also made mention that both her furniture and house robes had many cigarette burns thus making her seem careless. Investigators soon found that despite her level of care when she smoked, it is impossible to cremate a human from a cigarette.
Fire investigators given the challenge of reconstructing the incident found that Mrs. Conway was alive at 8:42 am. Suddenly, the fire ignited at the base of the seated body and burned straight upward; fed by the fat in the torso. The grand-daughter made the fire alarm call within “three minutes” of leaving Helen Conway’s house. The firemen arrived to find her remains at 8:48 am. Fascinated by the speed in which the whole incident occurred, investigators concluded that it took approximately 6 minutes for Conway to burn to death while sitting in her chair. Joe Nickell, a fire investigator found that the fire must have been incredibly intense, similar to a grease fire in a kitchen. An assistant chief found that while searching through the dense smoke for the victim, he sank his hand “into something greasy” which proved to be the woman’s remains.
Reports initially indicated that Mrs. Conway was a victim of the wick effect. The official report was changed to SHC citing that the wick effect would have taken a minimum of 7 hours to consume Mrs. Conway.
Phenomenon or not. Urban legend or reality. Fact or Fiction. The only real way to know if Spontaneous Human Combustion is real or something else is to experience it. Unfortunately, any person reported having ever experienced the phenomenon has taken the mystery of their experience to the grave.
Cannibal: A person who eats the flesh of other human beings.
Cannibalism has been around in some capacity since the dawn of time; however, there are very few words as despised and feared as cannibal. The mere word conjures up a feeling of disgust and a natural sense of dread in our minds. Usually, movies and the media are the closest that we get to cannibalism, therefore; when the word cannibal is heard, the instant imagery of infamous characters such as Jeffery Dahmer or even Hannibal Lecter invade our minds. The question arises; do we share our planet with cannibals? Could someone we run into in our daily activities be a cannibal?
The truth is that cannibals exist, and they exist among us today. During this post, we will cover 5 cannibals that you probably have never heard of. We will not be highlighting those that were forced into cannibalism as a result of outside influence such as being physically forced or those faced with starvation and imminent death. Nor will we cover societies that are cannibals as part of tradition or religious beliefs. The subjects in the five entries of this post made a personal choice to dine on the bodies of other human beings.
1) Rudy Eugene; Miami Cannibal Attack: Okay here’s the story; on May 26, 2012,
Eugene was driving his purple Chevy Caprice until about 11:30 when the car stalled. After spending roughly a half an hour trying to get it started again he gave up and started walking. As he crossed the three-mile spam of the MacArthur Causeway I guess he got hot because he started taking off his shit; all of it.
At 2:00 a butt-assed naked Eugene encounters Ronald Poppo. Poppo was laying underneath the elevated Metromover viaduct. Eugene starts whipping the 65-year-old Poppo’s ass, then forces him to take his pants off. From that point, this crazy motherfucker starts biting chunks out of Poppo’s face. A passing cyclist, Larry Vega sees this shit happening. After
coming to grips with himself and realizing this shit was actually happening he called the police, (I would love to hear exactly what he told the 911 operator.) Minutes later MPD officer Jose Ramirez arrives. After looking at this shit for a second he yelled for Eugene to knock it off but he ignored and kept eating Poppo. Officer Ramirez called to him a second time; this time Eugene looked up at him, growled and went back to eating the man’s face. Officer Ramirez shot Eugene once. After that didn’t work he shot him three more times, ultimately killing his ass. Afterwards, it was noted that the whole ordeal lasted for approximately 18-19 minutes.
Admitted to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition, Poppo sustained injuries so severe that 75-80% of his face above his beard had been eaten. Poppo lost his eyebrows,
his nose, parts of his forehead and cheek, and his left eye, and was left totally blind due to the damage to his remaining right eye. Oddly, Eugene’s autopsy revealed no human flesh in his stomach. Police speculated that the street drug, “bath salts,” had been involved but preliminary toxicology results were only positive for cannabis. Toxicologist Barry Logan said that Eugene’s behavior was consistent with the effects of the drug bath salts. He also added that toxicologists are not testing for everything out there. I’m not a toxicologist of any matter; however, I think that if the toxicology report on Eugene came back positive for only cannabis; it’s safe to say that your report probably missed something…..I’m just saying.
2) Armin Meiwes; The Internet Cannibal: The Cannibal Cafe,(No I’m not making this shit up, this is a real site) is a place where people with cannibal fetishes go to link up with each other. In early 2001 a German computer repair technician named Armin
Meiwes placed a post on this site. In the post, he specifies that he is looking for a well built male 18-30 years of age to be killed and consumed. Several crazy motherfuckers answered but backed out eventually; however, in March 2001, Bernd Jurgen Armando Brandes answered and he was serious.
After talking online back and forth for a while they decided to meet on March 9th, 2001. They agreed to record their “activities” for posterity. At Meiwes home in Rotenberg, the two men engaged in sexual activity then agreed to dine on Brandes’ penis. Initially, they attempted to eat it raw but felt that it was too tough and chewy. Meiwes then fried the penis in a pan with seasonings, wine, and garlic; deciding at that point that it was too burnt they tossed it to the dog. Meiwes then allowed Brandes to bleed out during a bath. He would check on his
victim periodically until he passed away. Over the next 10 months, Meiwes consumed Brandes.
In December of 2002, Meiwes was arrested when authorities were alerted to a new ad he had placed for another victim. When his home was searched investigators found the videotape as well as uneaten human body parts. On January 30, 2004; Armin Meiwes was originally found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to 8 years, however; in April of 2006, a German court ordered a retrial. Prosecutors argued the Meiwes should have been charged with murder. On May 10, 2006, Armin Meiwes was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
3) Dmitry & Natalia Baksheev; The Russian Cannibal Couple: On September 11, 2017, road workers in Krasnodar, Russia found a cell phone. Attempting to find out the identity
of the owner of the phone, the workers went through its contents. Their curiosity was soon replaced with horror when the men looked through the phone’s picture gallery. The pictures that shook them to their core were that of a man posing with a woman’s severed hand and what looked to be a scalp. One photograph appears to show a dismembered human head on a serving plate with fruit. Other photos illustrated the same man posing with different dismembered human body parts in his mouth. After seeing this sick shit the men took the phone to the authorities.
A police tech found the phone’s owner to be 35-year-old Dimitry Baksheev. Roughly, about the same time, officers found the dismembered corpse of an unidentified woman near the aviation academy where the Baksheevs lived. The police immediately sought out and arrested Dimitry Baksheev. During questioning Bakshev confessed to investigators that for years, he and his wife Natalia had been cannibals for approximately 20 years and had killed and consumed at least 30 people; with the first killing occurring at some point in 1999.
Not long after Dimitry Baksheev’s arrest and confession, the police arrested his wife Natalia. The impending investigation of their home uncovered horrors far beyond anything that could be conjured up by the most vivid imagination. The filthy apartment consisted of messy, disheveled rooms, trash, debris and clothes scattered on the floor and draped over furniture. While executing a search warrant investigators uncovered seven containers of human body parts as well as pieces of a human body marinating in saline solution. In the freezer were various human body parts, perhaps frozen for future consumption. Also found in the freezer were human remains pickled in jars. In the cellar of the couple’s home, searchers found 19 samples of human skin.
Dmitry & Natalia Baksheev; resided on the military base in Krasnodar, Russia. During the last 20 years, both of them held positions in the kitchen of the air base. The two murdered at least 30 people during that time. It is said that they drugged their victims then skinned them alive. Afterwards, the bodies were prepared for consumption. At times, the couple tried to turn soldiers at the military academy where they worked into unwitting cannibals, slipping “canned human meat” into their food. During her time as a nurse, Natalia made and sold meat pies to boost her income. She often told to local cafe owners that she could supply ‘meat’ and may have worked as a chef. Their investigation is considered ongoing by authorities.
4) Joachim Kroll, (Duisburger Menschenfresser; The Disturbing Man-Eater) The life and murderous career of Joachim Kroll was that of sexual perversion of the lowest
order; his apartment was filled with various sex toys, electronic gadgets, and inflatable sex dolls. Too much of a coward to attempt conventional relationships, Kroll turned to murder and rape in 1955 at the age of 22. Many reasons are given for his twisted rampage; with the actual reason still unknown to this day. What is known is that Joachim Kroll ended the lives of at least 14 victims on a killing spree that would go on for over two decades.
His first victim would be Irmgard Strehl. Found on February 8, 1955, the 19-year-old Strehl had been raped and stabbed to death. Her disemboweled body was found in a barn in Lüdinghausen. The following year authorities found the remains of Erika Schuleter; only twelve years old, she too had been raped and strangled.Approximately 3 years later the body of 24-year-old Klara Frieda Tesmer was found in Rhine. A local mechanic named Heinrich Ott had been initially charged with the murder, he hanged himself while in custody.
As the 50s ended and the 60s came in. Joachim Kroll’s level of depravity reached new depths. You see, Kroll’s current motis operandi was to surprise his victim then strangle them. As they lay dying or dead he would strip their clothes off and rape the corpse; often times he would masturbate over the corpse again. The following month, Manuela Knodt, a 16-year-old school girl was found on July 26, 1959. Joachim Kroll would go on to rape and murder at least 11 more women. The age of his victims never seemed to matter to him. He would take elderly women as well as children; the youngest being 4-year-old.
As stated previously, though he was not particular about who he raped and murdered; Kroll was very particular about where he killed. He would only kill in the same area after several years. Beginning with the murder of Manuela Knodt, Kroll took his operation to new depths, at that point besides being a rapist and murderer, he was now a cannibal.
On July 3,1976; police were doing a home to home search for a 4-year-old child. During the search, a neighbor told authorities about an encounter he had with Kroll earlier. The waste-pipe in their apartment building had blocked up; the neighbor asked Kroll if he knew what was blocking the pipe, Kroll had simply replied, “guts”. Police immediately stormed Kroll’s apartment and to their horror found the body of 4-year-old Marion Ketter. the baby had been cut up with her little hand boiling in a pot of water. The stoppage in the waste pipe turned out to be the lungs of the small victim. Kroll was taken into custody immediately.
Investigators questioned Kroll about his crimes. Exhibiting no remorse, Kroll not only confessed, in detail, to 14 murders; he began to brag about murders that the police were totally unaware of. When asked about his cannibalism of his victims, Kroll responded that he began to slice portions of meat from his victims in an effort to save money from grocery expenses.
Throughout the investigation, Joachim Kroll never denied committing any crime for which he was accused. At some point, Kroll was under the impression that if he simply admitted to his crimes he would be given an operation that would remove the homicidal urges. After the surgery, he would be cured and therefore released from prison to lead a normal life in society. In reality, he was found guilty of eight murders and one attempted murder and sentenced to nine life sentences in prison. In 1991, Joachim Kroll died of a heart attack.
5) Leonarda Cianciulli (la Saponificatrice di Correggio; Soap-Maker of Correggio) I know what you’re saying; ” a soap maker, what’s wrong with that.” First of all, if she is a topic on this blog, you KNOW she has done something really fucked up. Secondly, by her
being on this list…..do I need to say anything else? Just continue to read.
Born in Italy back in 1894, Cianciulli married a registry office clerk named Raffaele Pansardi in 1917, despite the arranged marriage put together by her parents. As a result of her blatant disregard for her parent’s wishes, Cianciulli felt that a curse had been placed upon her by her mother. Leonarda Cianciulli went on to be pregnant 17 times throughout her years of marriage. Of those 17 times, three times miscarried and ten children died in their youth. She became highly overprotective of the remaining four.
A believer of fortune tellers and soothsayers, Cianciulli had been told that in her youth that she would marry and bear children but that she would lose all of her children young. Another reader told her that in her vision she saw prison in one hand and an asylum in the other. Ironically it seemed that all prophecies concerning her were coming true as in 1927 she was arrested, charged and found guilty of fraud and sentenced to prison.
Cianciulli continued to look to supposed mediums and fortune tellers to lead her life. Ironically she had become so involved with these people, others began to look to her for spiritual insight. Neighborhood mothers began to seek guidance and insight from Cianciulli more and more thus leading her to believe her own bullshit. Giuseppe, her eldest son had gone to fight in the WWII; to protect him while he was away she believed that his safe return required human sacrifices.
Faustina Setti was an area spinster. Believing that Cianciulli could help her find a husband; she would follow Cianciulli’s commands to the letter. When told that she must go to the village of Pola and that her beloved would be waiting for her there, Setti believed her wholeheartedly. Cianciulli only had two conditions, she asked that she tell no one of her impending journey and that she write a series of letters and postcards to her family. She told her to mail them once she reached Pola, to let them know that all was well and that she had a new love. Needless to say, Faustina never made it to Pola. The say Setti was scheduled to leave she stopped at Cianciulli’s home for last minute preparations. After drinking a glass of drugged wine and passing out Cianciulli killed her with an ax.
Cianciulli used the lure of a job to snare her second victim. She informed Francesca Soavi that she had secured employment for her at a school for girls in Piacenza. Just as she instructed Settis, Cianciulli had Francesca write letters to family members to mail when she arrived at her new job. On September 5th, 1940; Francesca stopped by Cianciulli’s home to say thank you and goodbye as she prepared to leave for her new job. She too was drugged with wine and killed with an ax.
The third and last known victim of Leonarda Cianciulli was Virginia Cacioppo. Cianciulli claimed to have found work as the secretary for an impresario in Florence. As she had done with her first two victims, Cianciulli instructed Cacioppo not to tell a single person where she was going. On September 30, 1940; an anxious Virginia Cacioppo stopped by to thank Cianciulli and to bid her farewell. Just as she’d done the other victims, Cianciulli killed Ms. Cacioppo with an ax.
It would be the sister-in-law of Virginia Cacioppo who initially became suspicious of her sudden disappearance. She reported to the superintendent of police that she had last seen Virginia entering Cianciulli’s house. The superintendent opened an investigation and soon arrested Cianciulli. During questioning, Cianciulli initially denied any involvement in the murders. Investigators explained that they believed that her son, Giuseppe Pansardi, was guilty of the murders. When faced with the possibility of her son being charged, Cianciulli confessed to the murders, providing detailed accounts of what she had done. Without any signs of remorse, she gave investigators vivid accounts her crimes.
She explained that in each murder she drained the blood from the body and chopped the victims bodies into approximately nine to ten pieces. Cianciulli threw the pieces into a large pot. To dispose of her first two victims she added seven kilos of caustic soda to the pot and stirred the mixture until the pieces dissolved in a thick, dark mush that she poured into several buckets and emptied in a nearby septic tank. Cianciulli then collected the drained blood into a large pan and waited until it had coagulated. After drying the coagulated blood in the oven, she then ground it and mixed it with flour, sugar, chocolate, milk, eggs, and margarine, kneading all the ingredients together. She made tea cakes and served them to the ladies who came to visit, thereby turning unsuspecting area residents into cannibals. She and her son Giuseppe ate the cakes as well.
The way she dealt with the body of her third victim was different. She ended up in the pot just as she did the other two, but with the remains of Virginia Cacioppo, Cianciulli melted Cacioppo’s body was to make soap. She described Cacioppo’s flesh as fat and white. She boiled and melted her and added a bottle of cologne. Cianciulli made creamy soap which she molded into bars that she gave to neighbors and acquaintances. She said that the cakes that made from her blood were better and described Virginia Cacioppo jokingly as a woman that was really sweet.
Leonarda Cianciulli was found guilty of the murders in 1946 and sentenced to 30 years in prison with 3 of them to be spent in an asylum for the criminally insane. Cianciulli died of cerebral apoplexy in the women’s criminal asylum on October, 15th 1970.
It takes all kinds of people to comprise a world. We share our planet with a great many people with different backgrounds. We go through life focused on activities that affect us, totally oblivious to the activities of the people surrounding us. Oblivious, that is until our lives intersect with a person or persons that wish to and alter or at least attempt to alter our chosen path.
To live in paranoia is to live in perpetual incarceration; however, we must accept the fact that we share a world with people that may not wish us well. Though we must focus on our chosen path, we must also remain ever attentive to individuals we encounter. Think about someone you’ve met recently. How well have you gotten to know them since you’ve first met? In short; as we meet people, a decision must be made. If the individual is worth having in our lives, the individual is worth knowing thoroughly. If you aren’t willing to take the time to truly know the person, he/she is probably not worth having around at all.
We’ve taken a look at 5 cannibals and their crimes. People that were pillars of their communities. Otherwise ordinary people; right? Until next time let’s take care of each other.

“Ich kundige,” I heard the maid scream as she grabbed her belongings and stormed out of the kitchen door. Loosely translated meaning,”I quit,” I listened quietly as she explained to Mrs. Gruber her reasons for quitting. She told her that because of Andreas’
immoralities, spirits have invaded their home to steal, kill and destroy. She was certain that ghosts inhabited the house and wanted nothing to do with the place or the occupants. It was late September and the Lord has blessed our Bavarian homesteads to be prosperous. The crops were finally beginning to come in and it was looking like we were going to have a blessed winter. She threw Andreas a piercing stare as she darted out. For months she had complained to the Grubers about hearing footsteps in the attic, objects not in their proper place around the house as well as missing food. She constantly insisted that the farm was haunted. Andreas told her that it was all in her imagination, however, that was just him attempting to keep her from snooping unnecessarily. Unbeknownst to the Grubers, the hand of God was upon them and they were to be cleansed for their sins.
The Gruber’s maid had been a member of our congregation, even longer than she had been in their employ. Having been a part of the Gruber family for years, Mrs. Gruber relied on her more and more as she gotten older. Cazilia Gruber, almost 10 years older than Andreas, was deeply saddened by her sudden departure. Their daughter, Viktoria and her daughter little Cazilia had come to live with them during the war. Her husband Karl Gabriel had been presumed dead in battle, though his body was never recovered. The years had been exceptionally kind to her, she had grown to become so beautiful. One day, while doing her daily chores the maid walked into Viktoria’s bedroom unannounced and immediately caught Andreas and his daughter engaging in carnal sin. Shocked and ashamed, the maid immediately ran from the room. I don’t recall if the maid ever actually turned Andreas into authorities, but she told others of his debaucheries. When I heard, I was instantly sickened and knew that I would soon be called to fulfill my duties as God’s loyal and righteous hand. I could not allow the anger of the Father to jeopardize what could possibly be our most bountiful crops in years. You see, through faith the Lord has commissioned me to act as the hand of God; to act as judge, jury, and executioner against the unrighteous in our flock.
At some point, Viktoria began a relationship with their half-wit neighbor, Lorenz Schlittenbauer. The daughter eventually gave birth to Josef. Unsure of the actual father of the boy, she held Schlittenbauer financially responsible for the child; and he paid handsomely. I was the spirit on the Hinterkaifeck farm the maid came to fear. Through God, I was able to move throughout the property undetected. However, many times due to my clumsiness, I thought that they were aware of my presence. I would unintentionally leave things out of their normal place, moving items and forgetting to put them back where I found them. Once I left a newspaper that Andreas didn’t read out in the common area. Once Andreas tracked my footprints in the snow on to the property, however, he would see no footprints leaving. Andreas went from house to house, asking if anyone was experiencing anything strange. Other farmers, knowing full well of the transgressions of the Grubers, simply looked and said no. The maid attributed any suspicions to the presence of spirits. permitting me to remain hidden and able view their incestuous relations first hand. Committing an abomination against the Lord of such a magnitude required great penance. It was my job to act on behalf of the Lord, lest their perverse way of life would bring down the wrath of God upon Ingolstadt as well as Schrobenhausen; quite possibly all of Bavaria.
Six months had come and gone. The spring frost was melting, preparing for the new harvest. It was time to reap what had been sown. I looked down at my mattock, as I am an extension of the hand of God, so is my mattock to me, both readily prepared to do the work of the Lord. The Grubers hired a new maid yesterday, Maria Baumgartner. Though I am not familiar with her, she too would need to be changed over to atone for her sins. I riled up the horses to get the attention of the family; anticipating that Andreas would come out first to investigate the commotion. Just as I’d hoped, Andreas Gruber walked in first. “What’s the matter fellas?” he said as he calmed the horses. Powered by the hatred of his incestuous lifestyle and strengthened by the vengeance of the Lord I eased behind him and swung my mattock, striking him upon the crown of his head. Blood spewed everywhere as he fell. For good measure, I brought the weapon down upon his head as he laid prone. Gurgling and choking on his blood he attempted to say something but could not. He laid shaking and trembling until he passed away. I pulled him by the leg to a clump of hay in the corner. I knew that at any moment, someone would be out to check on him.
Approximately 30 minutes had passed, I waited patiently receiving instructions from on high. I heard a faint voice in the distance. “Andreas,” a soft voice said. “Andreas are you in here?” The voice said from the barn entry. I recognized the voice as that of Cazilia Gruber. I readied myself for an attack. Oddly enough Mrs. Gruber came through another door and spotted me crouched, waiting for her to appear. Spotting Andreas’ body on the hay heap she screamed,”You killed my husband!” She actually lunged at me; shocked, I swung my to halt her charge. The mattock lodged deeply into her head, nearly decapitating the woman from the eyes up. Her body spun a full 360 as she fell, The pickaxe was so wholly fastened to her head that I had to use my foot to remove it from her cranium. I placed my left foot on her forehead and pulled the weapon from her lifeless body. After getting the axe out of her head blood immediately sprayed everywhere. Not trying to pull the separated portion of her head from the rest, I grabbed her by her blouse and placed her corpse on top of that of her husband. I was certain that someone had heard her and would be rushing out to check on the noise.
Quietly, I laid in wait. Surprisingly it was over an hour that I waited; then suddenly I heard the screen door of the house slam shut. Viktoria and her daughter had come out on the porch. “Papa, Mama, are you out there,” she yelled from the porch. Hesitating at first then completely stopping not making any other steps forward. Worried that this would thwart my task, my mouth suddenly opened and yelled, “Komm, ich brauche deine Hilfe.” In a voice identical to that of Andreas Gruber, the Almighty had spoken through me and told Viktoria to come, I needed her help. Hand in hand she and her daughter Cazilia skipped out to the barn. “Papa,” she said, expecting to see her father and lover. As I eased behind her she turned her head and yelled, “Mr,” and before she could spew my name from her wicked lips my mighty weapon came down upon her head with such force it disfigured her face and killed her instantly. With a swing to the side, I’d hope to catch the child with the same level of power, intending to kill her suddenly so that she might go without much suffering; such was not the case though.
The pickaxe caught the side of little girls head, about the ear area. She dropped to the ground. Writhing in pain she rolled around crying and pulling out her own hair. I stopped her moving by placing my foot on her chest and brought the mattock down on the top of her head. Finally, in peace, her facial expression changed and she quietly gave up the ghost. As I drug the mother and daughter to the pile to join the other corpses I could hear the clang of pots and pans as well as the wailing of a child in the distance. Still slick with the blood of the Grubers, I dragged my mattock as I made my way to the house.
The front door was open through the screen door shut. I made my way up the stairs and found the new maid in her room. She had no idea that I was behind her as she feverishly looked through her dresser drawers for something. Totally fixated on her search, I was able to hoist my mighty weapon and bring it down squarely upon the back of her head. She died immediately. I found the baby sleeping on a cot next to his mother’s bed. I looked at the child, not as a helpless infant but as the evil spawn of relations that should never have been. I brought my mattock down squarely upon the infant’s head. The boy opened his eyes, spit up a stream of blood then closed his eyes and passed away.
I had completed my charge and once again the wicked has fallen to the will of God. I was about to leave then I glanced into the kitchen. The maid had prepared dinner for the family and honestly, being God’s hand had left his disciple quite hungry. I ate the dinner that was prepared and fell asleep. A bitter cold had come in and the fire in the home was burning quite nicely so I spent the night, a couple nights in fact. As a gentleman, I thought it improper to leave without taking care of the basic farming chores. I fed the animals, milked the cows and tidied up the common areas before I made my way to my next destination.
Thr Gruber funeral was a sight to behold. Forgotten was their sins now called discrepancies. There was much sad singing and flower bringing as everyone recalled their most pleasant moments with the family. I was even called upon to say a word or two about Andreas and Cazilia. I spoke my peace, withholding any thoughts I held about their personal lives. The procession continued and we buried the family. Neighbors brought their best meals and a gathering was held on their farmstead afterward, (lucky I cleaned up a bit eh?)
For years people have attempted to find out what really happened here. “Experts,” have tried to find out who committed these murders and why. Over 100 suspects have been interviewed by authorities. The police tried to explain that it may have been the work of transients, vagrants, craftsmen or robbers. Laughably; some people even thought that Viktoria’s husband Karl Gabriel, though he had been killed in the war; had come from the dead and killed the Gruber’s in a jealous rage. All were mistaken and I tell you that no man will uncover the killer of these sinners. The coppers even questioned me; I simply told them that the Lord saw fit to take them. Covered in the cloak of righteousness and possessed by the spirit of the Lord I was commissioned to bring the godless infidels to justice. Hinterkaifeck was not my first cleansing and wasn’t my last.
This is not an official account of anything. I am merely implementing my skill and writing style of creative nonfiction in this post.
Sorry, it’s been so long between posts. As a matter of fact, this wasn’t even meant to be a post but it just disturbed me so much. As a youth I witnessed the birth of video games, Atari was the main home game console of the era. The first game that I recall was tennis or “Pong” as it was called way back then. Two small lines parallel to each other at opposite ends of the tv screen. The object was to bounce the ball across the screen using the two lines. The rave of the day were game rooms or arcades as they were often called. As a child, I would gather all the quarters I could, join up with friends then hit the arcade. Occasionally one of us would run short or get too involved in one game and need to borrow some change from one another. Centipede, Pacman, and Asteroids were my absolute addictions at the time. At no point during my childhood gamer career do I recall anybody being killed for their inability to return borrowed quarters; and I’m talking about real money.
Recently I read about an incident that disturbed me to the core. Why you ask; well for one, the heinousness of the crime. For two, the fact that the circumstances surrounded a particular video game; Tibia. When I first heard about this incident, I thought to myself; “Isn’t a Tibia a part of the body?” As I read, I was in utter disbelief. I just knew that this was a creepypasta or a Reddit submission. For anybody that is like me and knew nothing of the game, Tibia is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). The gameplay of Tibia involves advancing levels while training to improve skill levels, hunting monsters using weapons and magical spells, gathering treasures, doing quests and exploring the Tibia world. Players interact with each other in character so they can have conversations, trades, and group battles and partake in guilds for more role-playing opportunities. No that’s not me, I stole the last two sentences from Wikipedia.
Evidently, within the confines of this game, there is the usage of some type of game currency. Money that I assume can be used to buy …… game shit, (I don’t know). Well anyway, down in sunny Blumenau, Santa Catarina, Brazil back in 2007 there lived 16-year-old Daniel Petry. As a child, Petry was a rebellious, aggressive boy who seemed to
deal with everyday situations with extreme violence. He was under psychiatric treatment, but regularly missed appointments or left his ordered therapy sessions early. Video games seemed to be one of the few things that kept him calm. In the same town lived Gabriel Kuhn. The 12-year-old Kuhn was by all accounts a decent kid that enjoyed playing the game. The two were friends that did the video game thing together. Gabriel wanted to progress in his game but he was short on game money, (not real currency) so he asked Petry if he could borrow 20,000 Tibia money from his account. Daniel agreed and transferred the funds to Gabriel’s account.
When it was time for Gabriel to return the borrowed funds, Gabriel
was unable to pay his friend back. Petry was beyond livid. Daniel stormed Gabriel’s house, finding no one home but Gabriel; Petry beat the living daylights out of the younger and smaller Kuhn. If this was the end of the story it would be fucked up; unfortunately, there’s more. He then raped/sodomized Gabriel and proceeded to strangle his friend to death. In an effort to conceal his crime; Petry attempted to hoist Kuhn’s lifeless body to the attic before anyone came home. Finding the body too heavy, Petry found a hacksaw and began cutting Gabriel’s legs off. Gabriel regained consciousness due to the pain of the amputation and screamed aloud i agony but soon passed out again from the pain; this time for good. Still unable to hide the body, Petry simply ran home. It is unclear which family member came home first and found the dismembered remains of this child.NOTE The crime scene photos are not for the faint of heart. If you click on the link, please do so knowing that what you are about to see is quite disturbing.
Some accounts have his mother coming home first, others have his brother coming home to this horror. In either case I could never begin to understand the horror and hurt that was felt when they hit the door that evening.
Daniel Petry was tried in court and after his conviction was sent to a young/juvenile offenders facility. Due to laws in Brazil regarding youths and murder he was only sentenced to three years in prison for this heinous murder.
I will save my comments and personal opinions for the next post which will be. “5 Murders Over Video Gameplay” or some shit similar to that but yal know what I’m trying to say.
We know that children comprise the victim list in many acts of violence. As we gaze upon the innocent faces of our leaders of tomorrow we may wonder how a person could commit any crime against these little people. Now let’s take another look at some of them. History tells us that some of these little darlings; more than you might suspect, are the perpetrators of some of the most heinous crimes known to man. Not only have some of these rascals murdered, they have become, by definition, serial killers.
I remember Lyle and Eric Menendez and their high-profile trial in 1994 for the 1989 murder of their parents. These young men assassinated their wealthy parents and attempted to use child abuse as a defense. At the time I thought that it got no worse than that; children that killed their own parents had to be the worse crime ever. A while back I did a post on mommy murderers, highlighting some of the most ungrateful, thoughtless acts that could be committed by a son or daughter. These young people take the cake however, they have crossed the line of depravity from being murderers they have entered the realm of being serial killers and with that, they have made their way into my blog; with that I present to you seven of the youngest serial killers in the world.
Gordon Stewart Northcott was responsible for a group of murders known as the Wineville Chickencoop Murders. Northcott kidnapped, sexually abused, and murdered at least three, and possibly as many as twenty or more young boys in the Los Angeles andRiverside county areas between 1926-1928. In 1926, Northcott, a 19-year-old Canadian born chicken ranch owner, took his 13-year-old nephew Sanford Clark, from the boy’s home in Canada to his ranch in Wineville, CA under the guise of showing him the ropes of ranching. However, once young Sanford arrived, Northcott immediately forced him into slavery The young boy waited on his uncle hand and foot and in return he would be beaten and raped regularly. Sanford also assisted Northcott in luring small boys to the ranch where they too would be beaten and sodomized. When he tired of the boys he would pimp them out to a network of rich pedophiles. Northcott’s mother assisted her son in his crimes against children. It would be Sarah Louise Northcott that gave Gordon the notion to murder the boys when he was done with them. Previous to this Northcott would generally drive his victims home after he has had his way with them. Following his mother’s advice, Northcott either shot or hit the victim in the head with an ax after defiling the boys.
The first known murder was to a young Mexican boy with whom Northcott had argued with. Northcott shot the boy and beheaded him. Northcott forced Clark to help dispose of the head by burning it in a fire pit and then crushing the skull. He then left the headless body by the side of the road. Though it is believed that Northcott murdered a great number of boys, due to a lack of evidence, he was only charged with the murder of 3 and an accomplice in one. Lewis and Nelson Winslow and of Walter Collins were killed by ax. With the assistance of his mother and nephew, he would then dissolve the flesh from the corpse using quicklime. The remains were buried in shallow graves on the ranch.
Authorities first became knowledgeable of Northcott’s crimes when Sanford’s sister Jessie came to the Wineville ranch for a visit. Sanford, 15 years old at this time told his older sister everything concerning the crimes their uncle and grandmother had committed. Jessie went to the authorities and reported every horrid detail that her younger brother had told her. To ensure proper handling of this case, Los Angeles Police Department contacted the United States Immigration Service to determine facts relative to Jessie’s complaint and Sanford’s status in the country. Immigration officers visited the ranch; finding Sanford there alone they immediately took him into custody. During the ensuing investigation, partial remains of the Winslow boys, as well as Walter Collins, were found. Northcott and his mother, Sarah Louise, fled to Canada but were arrested near Vernon, British Columbia on September 19, 1928. During questioning Northcott alternated between confessing his guilt in these and other murders to adamantly professing his innocence in all charges. Northcott was eventually sentenced to death for the murders of Lewis and Nelson Winslow. Sarah Louise Northcott pleads guilty to the murder of Walter Collins and was sentenced to life. On October 2, 1930, 23-year-old Gordon Stewart Northcott was hanged at San Quentin State Prison.
The South African murderer and rapist, Norman Afzal Simons be killing on September 29th, 1986 at the age of 19. In October, authorities found the body of 14-year-old Jonathan Claasen near Modderdam station in Bellville South. The local media dubbed Simons the “Station Strangler,” as he is believed to have lured his victims away from train stations. From October 1986 until April 1994, at least 22 boys were found murdered and buried face down in shallow sandy graves, their hands tied behind their backs and bearing the signs of having been sodomized.
Simons, was quite an intelligent individual, he played classical music and spoke seven languages fluently. Employed as a Grade 5 teacher at Alpine Primary School in East Ridge, Mitchell’s Plain; it is not known whether his victims came directly from his student contact or students associated to those in his class. What is known is that Simons raped and sodomized his victims before strangling them. All victims were young boys aged between 9 and 13 from the Cape Malays community. In 1994 Simons was arrested and thought to be South Africa’s most prolific serial killer. During questioning investigators asked him the motive behind his murders, he alleged that as a child his stepbrother raped and sodomized him. He went on to inform investigators that his stepbrothers spoke to him, forcing him to rape and murder young boys; even though his stepbrother was murdered in 1991.
Though all victims displayed similar modus operandi and prima facie evidence showed Simons was probably responsible for the deaths, Simons was found guilty of only a single kidnap, rape and murder case. In 1995, Norman Afzal Simons was sentenced to 25 years for murder and 10 years for kidnapping Elroy van Rooy.
Born to a 17-year-old factory worker, Peter Woodcock was put up for adoption and shuffled around from foster home to foster home. In at least one of those homes young Peter was abused by foster parents very early in his life. By the age of two, he had been so badly treated that he was afraid of most people and would scream loudly when approached. At the age of three Woodcock was placed into the stable home of Frank and Susan Maynard, but by then the damage was done. By the age of five he would no longer scream when approached; instead, he would cower into the nearest corner. This act of cowering when nervous lasted through his adolescent years. As a pre-teen and into his teenage years he was bullied incessantly due to his lack of social skills. When walking home he would wander off his path a great deal. Initially, he wandered to avoid bullies; he continued to wander to find small boys to abuse, rape, and to…………kill.
Peter owned a red and white Schwinn bicycle. He would ride his bike, leading his make believe gang of 500 boys on bikes called the ‘Winchester Heights Gang.’ He and his “gang” would ride around Toronto sexually assaulting children. On September 15, 1956; Woodcock lured 7 year old Wayne Mallette into a secluded area and strangled him to death. During the assault, Woodcock bit him on his calf and butt then defecated next to the body. The following month Woodcock picked up 9-year-old Gary Morris and took him to a nearby beach on his bike. Once he was away from any potential witness Woodcock strangled and beat the child to death. Oddly, in each case, the children’s clothes looked as if they had been stripped from them then redressed.
In January of 1957 witnesses saw a teenager fitting Woodcock’s description riding a bicycle with 4-year-old Carole Voyce on it. Her body was found under a viaduct naked. She had been choked unconscious with a tree branch shoved into her vaginal area. A composite sketch was created based on witness descriptions and Woodcock was arrested. During questioning, Woodcock confessed to all three murders. Due to a lack of evidence as well as witnesses Woodcock was only charged in Voyce’s murder. After a four-day trial, he was found not guilty by reason of insanity and was sent to the Oak Ridge Mental Health Centre. During his time there he engaged in homosexual activity with other inmates. He would trick inmates into giving him oral sex by offering them membership into his imaginary gang, the Brotherhood.
In 1991, after 35 years of incarceration, Woodcock, who had legally changed his name to David Michael Krueger was receiving his first weekend pass. Within an hour of receiving his pass he and Bruce Hamill (an inmate turned guard) murdered Dennis Kerr. Kerr had previously rejected Woodcock’s sexual advances but was meeting Woodcock/Krueger under the pretense of Krueger loaning him 500 dollars. Kerr arrived at the meeting location patiently waiting for Krueger. Unbeknownst to him, Krueger and Hamill were already there, waiting for the perfect time to strike. Suddenly, Krueger struck him in the head with a pipe wrench and continued to beat him into unconsciousness. Krueger and Hamill then seized the hatchet and knife they had hidden in the bushes while waiting for Kerr’s arrival and hacked and stabbed Kerr, mutilating his body, cutting it open, and nearly severing his head. Drenched in Kerr’s blood, they then stripped themselves naked and sodomized the corpse.
Woodstock spent the rest of his life under criminally psychiatric care. He died on March 5, 2010 his 71st birthday.
This Argentinian serial killer kicked his murderous life off at the tender age of 16. Born with syphilis on Halloween of 1896, he was one of eight boys born to drunk, abusive parents. He started off fucked up. Godino enjoyed killing cats, birds, whatever he could get his hands on. He also found solace in starting fires. At seven he beat up a 2-year-old and tossed him into a ditch. At 8 he beat a little girl with a rock. In both instances, authorities released him to his parents. When he was 10, he was accused of being a serial masturbator. His parents brought him to the local police and he ended up going to jail for 2 months for THAT.
In January of 1912, Godino set a warehouse on fire. He told police how he loved to start fires and seeing the firemen fall into the flames. The following week the body of 13-year-old Arturo Laurona, was found inside of an abandoned building. In March, Godino set fire to the dress of Reyna Vainicoff a five-year-old girl who lived nearby. She lived for a couple days after the incident but eventually succumbed to her injuries. Throughout the year of 1912, Godino became a menace to Buenos Aries by setting fires and attempting to murder area children. In December 1912, Godino lured 18-month-old Jesualdo Giordano into a shed by offering him sweets. The baby followed and once out of sight, Godino tried to choke him with his belt. When that didn’t work he used the belt to tie his hands and legs and commenced to beating the infant. He then went in search of a long nail. Once he found one to his liking, he then hammered the nail into the side of the baby’s head. When his father attempted to locate the lost infant, Godino denied seeing the child. A short time later the father found the corpse. During the wake later that evening Godino was seen admiring his handiwork, he touched the nail on the side of the deceased child’s head. The following morning Godino was arrested for murder.
Unsure where to house the young murderer authorities placed Godino into a reformatory. Even here the murderous demons called out to Godino as he attempted to kill several of the other inmates there. A judge discontinued his case in December of 1913 finding Godino insane thus allowing him to remain at the reformatory. However, in November of 1915, an appeal was approved ordering him to be moved to jail. In 1933, Godini spent a great deal of time in the prison hospital. Two men had attacked Godino for killing their pet cats. From 1935 onwards, he was always ill and received no visitors until he died on November 15, 1944 under strange circumstances.
In 1987 at the age of 13, Craig Chandler Price murdered his neighbor Rebecca Spencer, a 27-year-old mother of two. Price, a peeping tom; watched the young mother on several occasions from several vantage points he’d constructed. This time, however, was different; he crept across a neighbor’s yard and broke into the woman’s home. Price then grabbed knives from the kitchen and proceeded to stab her 58 times. Initially, the murders went unsolved until two years later in 1989, at the age of 15 Price struck again. He viciously murdered 39-year-old Joan Heaton, as well as her two daughters; 10-year-old Jennifer, and 8-year-old Melissa. Price was so malicious in his attack that pieces of the knives broke in the bone of the three victims.
Police on the scene noticed the familiarity in the two murder scenes. Price stabbed Heaton over 62 times and the children approximately 30 times. Both victims showed the bite marks left by the perpetrator. Once outed as the potential assailant, Price nonchalantly gave a vivid account of all four murders. He told how he bit Heaton’s face as he stabbed her repeatedly. He mimicked the last sounds of the dying girls. As he gave his accounts of these horrific crimes his mother sat next to him crying in disbelief at the words that were being spewed carelessly from her son’s mouth. The description given by his son sent Price’s father vomiting.
The scary though is that Price committed these heinous acts as a juvenile. He actually should’ve been released by now but, due to crimes committed during his incarceration. I don’t know if he has indicated any level of remorse for his actions. In my gut, I feel like we haven’t heard the last of Craig Chandler Price.
Amarjeet Sada is undoubtedly the world’s youngest serial killer. Born in Begusaray, Bihar, India in 1998; Sada began killing in 2006. At the age of 7, Sada murdered his six-month old cousin. The same year Sada murdered his own 8 month old sister, both by strangulation. In 2007 Sada kidnapped and murdered a woman’s six month old baby. Reports vary on just how Sada took the baby. Some witnesses say that Sada eased the baby off of its sleeping mother’s lap. Others say that the mother had left her daughter to sleep at her village primary school while she attended to household chores and returned to find she had disappeared. Unfortunately, what is known is that Sada strangled the infant then laid the baby on the grass and started smashing her face repeatedly. Afterwards Sada covered the body with grass and leaves, and came back to his house. When asked about the whereabouts of the child Sada denied having seen it. Later in the evening, her relatives found the baby dead.
Though he had two previous murders, authorities were only notified about this one. Sada’s family chose to deal with the first two themselves as they were considered, ”family matters.” Sada was placed under arrest and sent to a Begusarai remand home. During questioning, Sada confessed to the murders, never once showing any signs of remorse. Throughout the interrogation he simply smiled at the officers and asked for biscuits.
In less than a month, the Dnepropetrovsk maniacs killed at least 21 people in the Ukraine. Beginning June 25, 2007, these 19 year olds attacked random citizens with a hammer, bludgeoning them to death just for the thrill of killing. Born Viktor Sayenko, Alexander Hanzha and Igor Suprunyuk; the media dubbed them, “Dnepropetrovsk maniacs” from the town in the Ukraine in which they reside and committed the majority of their murders. They gained worldwide attention because the killers made video recordings of some of the murders, with one of the videos leaking to the internet.
Their murderous rampage began with murdering small animals. During their confessions they told investigators that they met each other at the age of 14. The three youths would help each other conquer their personal fears. To address a fear of heights, they hung over the railing of a 14th floor balcony. It is reported that Hanzha had a fear of blood which lead to torturing stray dogs. The boys captured dogs in a wooded area near their house, hanged them from trees, disemboweled them, and took pictures next to the corpses. By the time they were 17 they had moved on to strong arm and armed robberies. Suprunyuk owned a green Daewoo Lanos. The car was used as an unofficial cab which was used to rob passengers.
On June 25, 2007 they began a murder spree that would take at least 21 innocent lives in less than a month’s time. A combination of witnesses and pawned personal property of the victims led to their capture on July 23rd, 2007. Once apprehended the three men were charged with involvement in 29 separate incidents, including 21 murders and eight more attacks where victims survived. Suprunyuk was charged with 27 of the cases, including 21 counts of capital murder, eight armed robberies, and one count of animal cruelty. Sayenko was charged with 25 instances, including 18 murders, five robberies and one count of animal cruelty. Hanzha was only charged with two counts of armed robbery as he was not present for any of the murders. In less than a month, Suprunyuk and Sayenko attacked and killed 21 children, women, elderly, vagrants, or people under the influence of alcohol. The suspects’ mobile phones and personal computers contained multiple video recordings of the murders. Many of their videos were recorded simply for their own sick pleasure. They were also witnessed and videoed attending funerals of the victims. The video that gained the most notoriety is the leaked video of the murder of Sergei Yatzenko. Uploaded to a gore site and entitled 3 Guys 1 Hammer; (Warning: Very Graphic Video) Sayenko and Suprunyuk can be seen murdering Yatzenko.
Sayenko and Suprunyuk were sentenced to life in prison. Hanzaha was sentenced to nine years for the robberies.
As we see in these 7 instances; these young people are perfect examples of innocence lost; all murderers, just as prolific as their adult counterparts. Were these children victims of society somehow or were they born with a depravity gene? As you delve into the lives of these young people; you become the judge.
